Pair of armchairs, or love seats and stools, in rattan. Rotating seat to put on the stool. Quilted cushions, blue color, entirely realized by our workshops with a fabric of the editor Camengo. Work done in the 1970s.
A great classic of 1950s design and popularized in the 1970s, a Papasan armchair, otherwise known as a "bowl chair" or "moon chair" is a type of armchair shaped like a bowl, with an adjustable angle. The bowl rests in an upright frame traditionally made of rattan, but also sometimes of wicker or sturdy wood. The cushion of the chair is usually made of thick velvet filled with cotton down similar to that of a futon.
For traditional papasan, the cushion can be removed and used outside of its sturdy frame. The papasan chair gained popularity in the West when American servicemen in World War II brought them back from the Far East, where they had been used especially in Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Japan for centuries.
