"Garnishing With Putti, Maison Marnyhac"
A charming gilt bronze trim, signed on the enamel dial: Maison MARNYHAC, 1 rue de la Paix in Paris.
It consists of a pendulum flanked by two putti holding a garland of flowers, the movement surmounted by the arms of love: the quiver and the torches, placed on flowers, a ribbon and a laurel wreath. JAPY-signed chiming movement, in good working order.
The candelabra with two lights are held by a boy and a girl.
The house of Marnyhac et Cie is a manufacturing and trade company of art bronzes which appeared on the initiative of the artist Jacques Elie Edmond Armand de Marnyhac dit Charles de Marnyhac (1840-1897) around 1865.
A first shop was established on rue de la Paix and the workshops were located on avenue de Wagram in Paris
The house took part in its beginnings in the Universal Exhibition of 1867 where it won a bronze medal, then in that of 1878 where it was rewarded this time with the gold medal and the Legion of Honor. The presentation of the works of the house during this event will be very noticed.
