Pair of Empire style armchairs in carved wood with white lacquer and gold finish.
They rest on two front truncated cone-shaped legs and two rear saber-shaped legs. The belt and the uprights are straight and the seat and the back are rectangular. The part forming the armrests is spherical, reminiscent of officers' chairs. The latter, designed so that officers could sit while keeping their sword at the belt, had the armrests recessed, or even removed, and had a spherical pommel at the foot as a substitute for the armrest.
Carved decoration with frieze motifs alternating with palmettes and rosettes, typical of the Empire style. Trim in gilded fabric, imitating shagreen.
Work of the mid-twentieth century, in good condition
