    Description

    Exceptional living room painting by Théodore FOURMOIS (1814-1871) representing characters working in a mill on the edge of the forest in Campine. Original oil on canvas signed and dated lower right 1861 with a magnificent frame with original channels, this painting was exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in London in 1862 as well as at the Modern Art Museum in Brussels, historical exhibition of Belgian art in 1880 under number 332 (cited in the catalog p.10.207.223). has an exhibition label on the back (number 221). former VANDERKELEN family collection in LOuvins, Belgium. private collection Paris. he was one of the first Belgian painters to paint nature outside his studio, in the open air.
