    Description

    Pair of color prints, framed under glass, after Carle VERNET
    "The aftermath of a race" and "Jokai cutting his opponent".
    In Paris, at Jazet, Rue de Lancry.
    Late nineteenth, early twentieth.

    Dimensions: 57x50.5 cm

    Antoine Charles Horace VERNET, is the second of the name of the very famous VERNET dynasty;
    A pupil of his father Joseph Vernet, he is a brilliant horseman, and will never cease to study and represent them.
    He began by studying them, during his travels to Rome, in the Roman stud farms.
    A member of the Academy in 1788, he represented, with Gros, a new way of conceiving military painting, and excelled in hunting scenes, small crafts and popular scenes.
    He is also a cartoonist, caricaturist and lithographer.
    But he will be, first of all, a horse enthusiast and a brilliant squire.
    Passion, which is translated, here, in these prints, by the blatant realism of the expressions and attitudes of the horses, in all circumstances.
