A very beautiful invoice for this charming portrait of a dog, certainly a painting commissioned by his mistress, the chatelaine Mrs Campbell to the artist.
The painter was able to render the vivacity of the pet's gaze. His coat is painted with a light touch and removed.
William S. Rose is a British painter of landscapes, portraits and genre scenes.
