Pupil of his father Charles Laloue, Eugène Galien-Laloue exhibited at the Salon from 1879 and made a specialty of the views of Paris during the Belle Epoque. Gifted with great facility, Eugène Galien-Laloue had a very large production, mainly with gouache and small works. Eugène Galien-Laloue often represents the most picturesque places in Paris: The Grands Boulevards, The flower markets of The Madeleine or the Conciergerie, The banks of the Seine.
At the beginning of the 20th century Eugène Galien-Laloue has a good reputation by evoking the atmosphere of Paris in 1900 with its omnibuses and its fiacres of the Belle Epoque.The work of Eugène Galien-Laloue also has a value of testimony of his time.
This refined and delicate artist also painted landscapes of Normandy, Seine and Marne, Marseille, Italy and Venice and in 1914 representations of military views.
