Raymond BESSE, born December 26, 1899 in Niort in the Deux-Sèvres, died March 5, 1969 in Candé-sur-Beuvron in the Loir-et-Cher), is a French painter.
Raymond Besse arrived in Paris in 1916. He participated for the first time in the Salon des Indépendants in 1923. He then participated in many other fairs, including the Salon d'automne. He has represented the northern suburbs of Paris, Saint-Ouen, Montmartre and Clichy many times because he liked to paint the area and his paintings are testimonies of life in the working-class neighborhoods during the first half of the century.
Raymond Besse has also produced many works on the themes of Normandy and the Loire Valley. It is in the Loir-et-Cher that he spends his last years and dies in 1969. (source Wikipedia
